I am currently based in Asbury Park NJ, which is still considered Central Jersey(Yes That Exists!). With that perfect central location, I can travel to most metro areas(Philly, NYC, Upstate NY, Long Island) within an hour or two.
My main rule of thumb is that Id take any gig, so long as Im not driving more round trip than Im shooting. So if Im shooting for a full day/8+ Hour, Id prefer to keep the limit of driving to 2 Hours one way. 

Travel rates start accruing for any trip longer than 2 hours away.

Absolutely! There have been countless occasions where weddings often have multiple events happening at the same time (e.g., the couple getting ready in separate locations). By having a second shooter like me, allows for simultaneous coverage, ensuring no important moments are missed.
In case the primary photographer is unexpectedly delayed or needs to step away briefly, I can continue capturing important moments, ensuring continuous coverage.
While the lead shooter is shooting the family formalities, I can either gather family together, call out names, and line them all up. This will make it easier for the lead shooter and all they have to worry about is taking the shot.
If the group is small enough where the lead can do it all on their own, we can divide and conquer and I can shoot reception details or take pictures of cocktail hour. 

Yes! I love using Off Camera Flash in the proper scenarios. Whether its to use it in outdoors with a killer sky and want to "overpower" the sun if necessary.  Or for indoor receptions with High Ceilings or dark colored walls & Ceilings where bounce flash would be problematic.
I usually light my receptions with 2-3 lights in the room aimed towards the center of the dance floor or where the action is happening. As a second shooter, I usually point one light at the front door in case the wedding party does their fun dances and forget to do it at the center of the dance floor, like they were supposed to, heh.

Ive been professionally shooting weddings since 2018. I am that photographer that will take every single wedding possible as I love what I do, helping anyone I can. Even if that means 2nd shooting and associate shooting 70-80 weddings a year. You can count on me to make this day as stress free as possible by herding cats(I mean wedding party and family), making sure Mom and Dad are happy, fluffing dresses, pinning on Boutonniere. In addition, if you need me to carry gear, hold a light for off camera flash, grab the couple a drink to keep them hydrated(along with the team we're working with), you can always count on me for anything.
